In Search of Good FMA

I read many posts about this place and that place has good FMA that we call Arnis Eskrima or Kali, here in the US and abroad. But leaves me wondering where one can find good FMA. In my travels I found that where you have sizable Filipino population, there is FMA. I have found pockets in Florida, Hawaii, Nevada and Southern and Northern California. I have heard of pockets back east and down in Texas and up in Washington. I know that there are places overseas like Mexico, one of my students found… Continue

Post Seminar Day

Well its Monday and back at work today. Went and supported Guru Eds Kali Silat group in Passada yesterday with Guro Roger Agbulos teaching also. I enjoyed watching Guru Ed teach his Indonisian Silat, he is very fluid in his motions with his whole body in rhythem with it. I taught at the end of the day about the use of the live hand, right out of one my articles. I did this because I have that typically found that most people who do FMA do not fully understand the use of the live hand, empty…

Jeff *Stickman* Finder Receives WSEF {Escrima Master Guru Degree}

The "World Serrada Escrima Federation" recently awarded Jeff *Stickman* Finder the prestigious "Davis/Cabales Serrada System of Escrima Master Guru Degree". Finder first formally began his training in the fine art of Serrada Escrima via GM *D* back in early 1985. The *Stickman* first came into direct contact with GM *D* along with the Legendary GGM Angel Cabales at a GM Max Pallen Tournament that was held in San Leandro, California back in the mid-1980's. After one…

Of personal significance is that I received a Master's certificate in Escrima. Frankly, it's a bit hard for me to write objectively about this. I take pride in accomplishments but I'm not much into self-aggrandizement; I jokingly refer to this as "my official getting old award", which is far more truthful than I'd like to admit. Still, this is…

THE HEIGHT OF ALL PHILIPPINE MARTIAL ARTS SYSTEM DRILLS Palit-Palit is what inspired me in 1977 in Cebu City where I first met GM Canete and the CANETE family, and GM Bobby Tobota. – Both have never seen before the rendering of the new Palit-Palit’s SinaTirsiaWali’s 188 sinawali. I hope you’ll join us for the next exciting seminar or organize one for yourself. We can offer our extensive email list to obtain more students in your area. Thanks, visit us at:… Continue

There are few symbols more important in their significance, more various in application, or more generally diffused throughout the world than the "Triangle".

The triangle serves as the premier symbol within the various different systems of African, Chinese, Indonesian, and Filipino martial arts. Amongst those who practice these and other types of art forms; The triangle is the basis within which all…

Sir, I wanted to thank you for your words you posted on my page earlier

this year. I am sorry to say that I don’t get into that often.

I have never had the pleasure of meeting you in person but I have met a

few of your students and found them to be very nice and capable

practitioners. It is truly unfortunate that we have not crossed paths up

to this point. I look forward to that day. It is great to see the

activity you have generated for Serrada and the… Continue
