What GARIMOT ARNIS?,
Well Garimot Arnis is a Filipino Martial Art system developed & taught by Gat Puno Abon "Garimot" Baet. Arnis de Mano which is the common name used of Filipino arts, also the arts which common identifies as the Weapon arts, and sometimes confusingly said the Stickfighting arts from the Philippines. Arnis de Mano is easily translates as the "Harness of the Hands" or the Defenses of Arm. It's name start to evolved after the Spanish forbids the practice of the deadly Gathering of fighter to honed their skills in the Philippines on 1610. Arnis de Mano is officially used after the play Moro-moro was introduced to the Philippines by the Spanish Friars on 1637, called Doce Pares a show which dramatized the Battle of Muslim Moors against the Christians Emperor Charlemangne. Later the show was corrupted by the Filipino and change the name to Moro-moro. Each player is required to learn a basic Esgrima (later was change to Eskrima, which is swordmanship and Estocada, or Estokada the art of uniques stances with estoque sword & defenses used in Bullfighting arena by the Madadors.
Garimot-mean abasorber is a fighting name used by Gat Puno Abon father Maestro Felipe "Garimot" Baet which is widely known undefeated "Arnis de Mano" stylist in seven provinces, he was crowned the "Hari ng Pitong Kabundukan" or King of the Seven Mountain. His fighting name was given to him, by his group of friends and Ekrimadores, signifies his skill of absorbed what he learned from numerous Maestro of Arnis, Eskrima & Estokada and used it in his advantages. He was also noted his eyes don't blink when he got hit, control well himself, not shows of pain or emotion, when he got hit, thus where he get his name "Garimot" came from the word "Sagaymot".
Garimot Arnis was founded on 1989, by Gat Puno Abon, to honor his father and to open up the door to those seeking lesson in Traditional arts of Arnis de Mano.
