One of the most common question I get from students and members here is, "where can I get some good sticks?"  Like a number of you, I have had some sticks that have lasted around 10 years and other sticks that turn into brooms the first class.

So, in an effort to help the community we are going to do product testing on sticks provided by any interested suppliers.  If you are a supplier, simply ship us a pair (or two) of sticks.  In return, we will test them for three months and then submit a review for the FMA community.  Prior to releasing our thoughts and findings, we will email you what we intend to publish to allow you to decide if you want the information public or not; we will not be sugar coating our results.  If the sticks disintegrate after one class, that is what we are going to say.

We will then advertise (for free) the top products/suppliers!

If you would like your products showcased/tested, please feel free to contact me here or via email at:  info@myfma.net  You can ship products to either:

PO Box 654
Bentonville, AR  72712

or

1112 NE Fillmore
Bentonville, AR  72712

Members, do you have any supplier preferences or recommendations based on your own experiences?

Great Idea!

John,

I make my own sticks and in limited quantities I make them for sale to other groups. Would you be interested as I am not a large or even medium supplier.

Marc

Absolutely!

John, I will send you a pair from http://traditionalfilipinoweapons.com/KaliSticks.html They will blow your mind. I use Indonesian rattan which is considerably harder than Philippine rattan.

Our sticks are selling all over the world now. I have a hard time keeping them in stock due to the fact they break everyone elses sticks up. My next batch, I will send you a pair. I know your report on them will be good. I am quadrupling the next load because they sell so well.

Thanks Ron!

Ron.....

bahalanamulti-style would love to to put our stamp on your sticks!!!!

if u need a second opinion.

Thanks for addressing this issue!

Looking forward to the results.

Definitely needs some good entry level sticks for beginning students, and a more premium option as well.

Get this offer to Bamboo and Rattan Works in NJ.

I like Franks cane supply, the rattan sticks with th skin are  good and the calcutta bamboo sticks are hard core.. His prices are really good also.

I back what Rick is saying. I have been getting my sticks from Franks Cane Supply as well for at least the past 5 years.  They are always good sticks, that last pretty long.  They also sell a variety of rattan sizes (thickness).

Prices and quality of their equipment is excellent.

I wanted to follow up on this.  We had several individuals and organizations offer to send us product to test, but none of them followed through.

If anyone ever sends us product, we will let you know how the testing goes...
