A great Filipino Martial Art Legend has passed away today (July 4, 2013).  Manong Ted Buot, after surviving a stroke in 2005, passed away this morning.  He was 82 years of age.  Manong Ted was the student of Grand Master Anciong Bacon of Balintawak Eskrima.  After 10 years of teaching Balintawk for GM Anciong  in Cebu, he moved to the United States in the 1970's.  I am saddened by the loss, but honored to have been his student for 10 + years.

On behalf of SGM Cacoy Canete and Cacoy Doce Pares Eskrima World Federation, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolence to the Buot family for the loss of their beloved GM Ted Buot.  We are saddened by the news of his passing.  GM Buot was our good friend from the Balintawak Eskrima organization. May he rest in peace.

My wife and I are students of Sifu Dave Hatch.  I have sat and listen as he was telling me stories of Manong Ted Buot.  Every time he told stories of Manong, in my mind I got to know him.  Only met him once at my first Guro Dan Inosanto seminar in 2000, I remember a big smile on his face.  My thoughts and prayers to Manong Ted's family, as well as Sifu Dave Hatch as he lost a great instructor.

God Bless his soul and rest in peace my condolences to his Family & Friends, students and everyone who love him he will be always in our prayer.

I am saddened to learn of Manong Ted's passing.  I know three of his former students and they are excellent representatives of both their teacher and the art that he passed on to them.

With best regards,

On behalf of Defensor Method & the entire Illinois Katipunan, our deepest condolences to the family, students, & fans of Manong Ted Buot of Balintawak.

This is very somber and sad news and on behalf of the Escrima de Ceballos and Kuma Goshin-jitsu de Escrima families we extend our sincere and humble thoughts and prayers to both the family and students of Manong Ted Buot. While, I never had the honor of training with this warrior, I look forward to meeting up with him and training on the otherside...
