Training for S.P.A.C.E

(Speed, Power, Accuracy, Consistency and Efficiency).

While sitting in my office and letting my mind wander away from my work responsibilities, I wondered how many of my Eskrima brothers and sisters train to enhance their speed, power, accuracy, consistency and efficiency of their strikes and movements.

SPACE is an acronym that lays the foundation to a concept that my instructor emphasized early on in our development to insure that we always attempted to remain in control during the deployment of our techniques and not become sloppy; in turn, less effective and efficient with our strikes and counters. While having speed is good, it is perhaps less useful without power, accuracy, and consistency.

My question to my FMA family is what concept/concepts do you practice or keep in mind to keep you or your students from simply becoming sloppy Eskrimadors?
