Christmas season with my Fil-Am family and our Arnis club is my favorite time of year. This is the time of year when  friends & families get together sharing friendship & food. No sparring or completions, just good times and parties. Visiting old & new friends. December for us is from one party or gathering to the next. In the Philippines the light the Parol Lanterns and holiday season begins. i hope that other group are doing the same and remembering that season is about giving & sharing with friends old and new. Not just spending & stressing. Take time out this Holiday season be thankful for your friends and spend some time with them.

Here in the Philippines, during this season of love, we find time to visit our loved ones and relatives. We prepare some small gifts as a sign that we value them and we cook delicious native delicacies of savor the moment. This is the season where we cook pork lechon, lechon manok, lechon baka, biko, suman, puto, Filipino style spaghetti, pancit, ihaw-ihaw and many more delicious Filipino food. Most Filipinos normally do not drink red wines here because they are expensive here in our country. We drink San Miguel Beer or Emperador Brandy instead and party with friends and relatives. One of things we do in parties is to sing using karaoke and we entertain our friends and visitors by our not so melodious voice... lol!!! It is this season of the year where most Filipinos try to forget their problems and focus on merry making and bonding with relatives. It is a season where we say "Life is good, Life is beautiful" despite its ups and downs. We try as much as possible to savor the moment and thank God for all the blessings He has showered our lives.

When I was teaching on the airbase here, I used to have a big family christmas party with the familes and students.. It was one of the best things that I remember when I was actively teaching on a larger scale.. It was nice to put on the feed with the student's families and it was a time of the year when I could actually give thanks to the students and families for supporting the club.. I had a group of about 60 students and we would have the recreation center to ourselves with a big buffet table and christmas theme was in all the room.. Good times
