Perilous Paradise is a documentary filmed in the southern Philippines in the early 1930's. Produced by "Official Films" it shows no other credits. Much of the film footage appears in a film titled "Zamboanga" which was directed by my grandfather Marvin Gardner (Eduardo de Castro) which was released internationally in 1937 by Philippine Films Production. Photography was credited to William H. Jansen. Part 1 introduces the audience to a fictional island called Tictauban presumably located in the Philippines Muslim south. Most likely it was filmed on Jolo. The film is narrated with background music (Hawaiian) and native sounds dubbed in.
