This last weekend myself and seven other Eskrimadors were part of a living history event at old Fort Mac Museum in San Pedro, CA. We organized along with other Spanish American War Reenactors both American and Spanish to show the Philippine- Spanish War for Indepence and the Philippine American War. It is also known as the Philippine Insurrection. It was challenge to get three different FMA school together for an event and put on a good show. We organized ourselves into group we called "The Son's of Rizal". We did great job and had the Philippine Consulate staff come out watch and take pictures and video. We received a lot compliments about our outfits and our performance. We also put on a demo, showing a mock battle of barrio verses barrio raid. We used Aluminum swords battling each other on the field before a crowd of over 500 people. We also set up a display of Filipino Weapons in portable hut that we built. The whole event lasted three days, more than enough to wear me out. The after-hours was great too. That's when the reenctors get together. We had our own fiesta, We had some play wooden knife matches with other reenactor groups, eating good food, live music and dancing into the night!
