Of course when I was a kid I was inspired by lots of martial arts movies. For me one of the biggest was the legend of Billy jack. I'm native American a former marine corps weapons specialist and 38yrs of martial arts experience  with 8 black belts in 3 systems...So I guess I followed that though not intentionally.. anyone else?

Bruce Lee of course! When I got out of the army in 76 was downtown market street in San Francisco saw Enter the dragon was all over than..prior to that I had seen some of the other movies while stationed in Germany...but I think that was the one! Altough I was involved in martial arts prior to that it led me on the trail to train with a lot of different martial artist. I guess I will be a life-long student!

But I do remember Billy-Jack. "i'm going kick u with this foot on that side of the head and there is nothing you can do about it" something like that!

Mine was the TV show Kung Fu.  David Caradine was terrible.  But, it started me down the path.  As for movies, yes Billy Jack, yes everything by Bruce Lee.  But also, lots of Jackie Chan movies on Kung Fu Theater.  Recently, Hero with Jet Li and The Transporter.  Oh, crap, I have way to many favorites to list.  What about 300?  Awesome blade work in that one.

I remember coming out of the theater in Lombard, Illinois, after seeing "Enter the Dragon" feeling like I had seen something magical.  "Enter the Dragon" was the first Lee movie that  had seen.  I was like, "Can any human really move that good or did they speed that film up... ?" and it was at that time that I decided to take up martial arts more seriously than I had.  The Escrima stick work that Lee had shown, from Dan Inosanto, Bahala Na graduate #1, from Club #1 in Stockton, was definitely on my mind, as a need to know art and I bought my first set of Escrima sticks.  At the time... I did not even know who Dan Inosanto was and I did not take up Escrima until 2000 under Jason Inay in San Jose, California!
