BARK RIVER KNIVES MORO BORONG

FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTISTS

I don't know about you, but I collect knives of all kinds for practice and personal protection.  Have been doing so for a fairly long time.

Bark River Knives (BRK) makes a very nice Moro Borong, but it in A2 steel. A2 steel is a good steel but because it is a tool steel there are much better steels out there to be had.

I called BRK and they told me that if I wanted to see the Moro Barong in CPM 3V, which is…

Technical Walk Through of MyFMA.net Hangout on Air System

Hello All!

As I write this there are nearly 3,000 members of MyFMA.net.  I know most of you come here to enjoy the gathering of ideas between FMA martial artists, and to watch videos, not to talk shop about computers but a few of you may be interested in a technical walk-through the system used to perform the "Google+ Hangouts on Air" (HoA) interviews.

Approximately 4 months ago while chatting with Guro Carlito Bonjoc on the phone, I asked him why he didn't use…

Free Books On Filipino Culture

Hello All!

I hope that the year 2013 brings new opportunities for you!

I was chatting with a friend of mine, Lhina, from Batangas, Philippines and she was interested in something to do so I recommended the Free texts at the Gutenberg Press.

Some of the books are written in Tagalog, but many are written in English, and if you want to know about Philippino…

Movie sword-fight master Bob Anderson dies at 89

Anderson, who worked with actors from Errol Flynn to Antonio Banderas during five decades as a sword master, fight director and stunt…

Perilous Paradise

A link provided to me by GM Yuli Romo in the PI.

Perilous Paradise

Perilous Paradise is a documentary filmed in the southern Philippines in the early 1930's. Produced by "Official Films" it shows no other credits. Much of the film footage appears in a film titled "Zamboanga" which was directed by my grandfather Marvin Gardner (Eduardo de Castro) which was released internationally in 1937 by Philippine…

GM Taboada Illness

Hello all!

I just found out that GM Bobby Taboada of World Balintawak Arnis Escrima,Charlotte, North Carolina has been hospitalized for over one month through Virgil Cavada.  Allegedly Dan Inosanto asked Virgil to check in to it and he is.  I have an email out to Virgil and if I find out any more I will let everyone know what happened.

Thanks,

Thomas
