Members of Filipino Martial Arts, led by Harbour Centre owner Mikee Romero, have thrown their full support behind the bill filed by Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri to make arnis the country’s national sport.
Romero and Zubiri, both avid arnis practitioners, are rallying strong support for arnis to be the country’s answer to Thailand’s muay thai, Japan’s karatedo and Korea’s taekwondo.
Zubiri recently filed Senate Bill 1424 that hopes to make the bill move on to its third reading in the…

Yesterday I took three of my fighters from our club (SBFMA) to the Way of the Stick & the Blade tournament. It was held at LAX Hilton Hotel. Unfortunately there was not kids their age group to fight. They were a bit disappointed about that but were up to do a demonstration match. Instructor Jay Paular bio
Jay’s interests in Filipino martial arts began in the early 1970’s when he observed a demo in Sacramento by a group trained by Master Glenn Abrescy Sr. A few years later, Jay discovered that his father’s cousin, Guro Dan Inosanto, had become a noted martial artist and appeared in The Game of Death with Bruce Lee. In 1974, Jay was visiting the backyard studio of Guro Dan Inosanto; where he had his first exposure to some of the early masters, including Angel…
