When you think of the word knight what comes to mind? To me, the concept of knight was to be a protector of the weak and defender against hostile forces and a leader among men. What is your thoughts?

Hi Marc,
This is Master Art Miraflor of Knights of Escrima. For over 15 years I had a boys group called, "The Christian Knights". This was a mix of Boys Scouts and ROTC. I derived the Knights from this group for my school, because I thought it would be apropereit, being the word could mean: protector of the faith, the kings most trusted and closest guardians of the palace, the warriors of the village. I really wanted to give it a original twist since the Filipino Martial Art's gets its roots from Spain and the Knights.
FMA has mixed roots one side of it being from Spain and other from South East Asian cultures that settled in the Philippines. I find it interesting that the concept a Datu as local chief both still had his trusted guardians of Barangay. This concept was found thoughout Southeast Asia before the time of the Spanish.
