Why are you here on MyFMA.net - Filipino Martial Arts Network?

Considering all of the things I am thankful for, I would definitely have to include MyFMA.net.  There are literally thousands of other sites I could be on right now, but I always come back to this one.  I spend more time working to make sure that this site is the premier Filipino Martial Arts Network than I can possibly measure.

Why?  Because I am passionate about the Filipino Martial Arts; because of the great people, great conversations, and wonderful friendships; because this network is bringing the FMA community closer together as one family.

My responsibility to my teachers, my students, the FMA world, and this network is what lead me here.

But what brought you here?

What is different about MyFMA.net that keeps bringing you back?

I'm glad you found a better fit with us Joel! I was also a member at matrix, but found it was littered with spam accounts, the music drove me nuts, and the content never changed. It seems the site is stagnant, and only works to support certain individuals rather than the arts as a whole.

I am a member on Silat, and Omar does a great job managing the site. However, I agree that there is some confusion as to what is allowed and not allowed. He has shifted some of the ways he administers the site ie trying to integrate Kuntao into the discussions. One of the things that you unfortunately run into with that network is all of the politics and infighting. We strive to do a much better job of bringing everyone together rather than bickering about politics.

Again, I'm glad you are here and feel welcome!
Every one of us, sort of trying to find a common ground in everything that we believed in. It may no be the case all the time but a common views and aspirations will always bring people in a common ground, no what ifs! and buts! just as energizing and positive views of life feeding each others craving for that ultimate answers to life's most complicated question.

At the end of day, then this question would just come in and ask ourselves what we have accomplished during our travel towards that journey? As they always say that, it is not the final destination that matters but how we traveled along that journey that counts the most.

Only you and you alone knows these answers to these question and the same question will hopefully guide our travel towards the end of that journey.

I am here today in this common ground by mysterious ways and I guess that is how it works somehow to draw people in with same views and aspirations. This is part of my travel and my passage. I carry a responsibilities in me to share positive views in life so they may have the right way to travel in their journey.

This is my common ground and that is why I am here! Today! My FMA .net

Mapasalamaton!

Thanks for your contribution Ramyer. Our common goals are what inspired my creation of MyFMA.net. As you stated, it's not the destination, but the journey that is important. Together we can all work together to promote the benefits of the Filipino Martial Arts.
I have come to love the concepts and fighting style that is Pekiti Tirsia Kali. I saw it on the Human weapon andthen again on fight quest and I want not only to learn everything I can about it but, I wanted to be in a community that has in its ranks folks of like mindedness in futhering the Filipino arts. I've done the Korean thing, the Japaneese thing, and I currently train MMA for my job as a law enforcement officer but I have fell in love with this filipino fighting concept of weapons then empty hands. I am on a new journey as a novice ( sponge) at this time and hope to get formal training in some form or fashion before I die. God Bless and thanks for having me and havin this site up for me to pick your brains. Peace, Don.
Don,

Glad to have you here. There are a number of exponents of PTK here on MyFMA.net. If they haven't already, I'm sure they will be contacting you during your stay.

Also, if you like I can put you in touch with Omar Hakim. He has been with GM Gaje since 1987.
Same for me, my instructor is here and speak me about this website, as he always tell me "it's good know other system and differents contact in FMA", and here is a good way to do that ;)
Christophe,

That is my goal with MyFMA.net - to connect everyone in the community! I'm encouraged to know that it is working so well.
First of all to make friends and network. I also would like to meet other women who practice a Filipino style. I don't find too many (at least not many who make it to Black Belt- or similar rank). I also would like to learn as much as possible from others, as far as history, etc...
Daniele,

I don't think you are alone in wanting to meet women who practice FMA. =) I know a number of my students would love to as well. lol

Seriously though, there are a number of female practitioners on MyFMA.net - especially the Polish contingents. Feel free to get in contact with Ania Puczyńska!
What brought me here? Technically a hyperlink. Really, I just came across this site by browsing on some FMA sites perhaps googling about FMA.

Why am I here? To make some friends and to see what I can learn from other practitioners.

This question, I made up, but it sounds reasonable.....Why am I still involved with this network? First of all, it is a great resource for materials, people, and events. Second, FMA sites like styles, has its own peculiarity, has something to offer, has its own feel, and attributes. This site feels just right and is cool!.
Chris,

Thank you for your compliments. I appreciate the feedback, and hope to continue to meet your expectations!
I'm here because, my instructor pointed me to it. It has a lot of great info from, past masters of the filipino martial arts.
My greatest respect goes to Sifu/ Guro Dave Hatch and his wife, and Sigung/ Guro Dan Inosanto.
