I sit up here in northern Michigan without many contacts in the FMA world. I do not have the luxury of having "ANY" FMA groups near by. So, this chat room allows me to talk and share ideas and resources with people from all over the world. The chat room runs pretty quickly- I know most are not aware of it.

Still wondering why not many people come to the chat room- ya know- that little bar at the bottom of this window that says filipino martial arts online! just hit it and come into the chat......

Ok young fella, I borrowed a wooden Bo staff from a brown belt practioner of Shoto Kan who learned Bo staff years ago. She is 5'2" and the staff is 6 '. It is 1.2 ' at the middle and tapers to 1' at the ends and weighs about 3 or 4 pounds. My hands are sore from the strength required for twirling and manipulating the staff. It's may impression that her staff is too heavy and far too big for her and me apparently. I am 5'10". You had mentioned earlier that staffs should be measured from the ground to the chin. What are you thoughts?

Second question, is there a definitive book on Bo Staff techniques I can get from Amazon, etc.?

I have not found a definitive book on Filipino staff and the books on Japanese staff do not follow my empty hands training. Sorry, you will just have to wait til I finish my Kuntaw Handbook where the staff (sibat) is covered pretty well.
