I remember 15 years ago or so, we had a rather large influx of Filipino nurses in to Ireland. Working in a hospital I thought I was bound to be able to find someone who knew some FMA.
Arnis? Eskrima? Kali? None of them ever heard of them. For some reason, they all loved taekwondo whatever that was about.
Anyway, there's a happy ending. Thanks to my filthy habit, smoking, I got talking to a new nurse from Sulu who did indeed do a FMA. I asked him if the Filipinos were just being protective by denying any knowledge of FMAs and he told me that they weren't.
